Typeface Design
The Grand Central typeface is a modern reinterpretation of the historic typography found at New York City’s iconic Grand Central Station. Drawing inspiration from the mosaic signage at the subway station, this project blends timeless craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities.
Guided by the station’s rich history and personal experiences within its bustling halls, I recreated the hand-made charm of the original lettering into a versatile digital typeface. The design retains the elegant, architectural qualities of the mosaics while infusing a modern touch, making it suitable for a range of print and digital applications.
